RFP - MTMC Main Lobby Art Installation

The location of the art piece will be in the main lobby of the new MTMC.
It’s location on the primary wall of the lobby, just to the left of the
entrance to the facility will be a focal point for the space, both for those
entering and exiting the facility.

The commissioned, site specific work will become an iconic image for the
facility, with potential use as a branding element for the marketing/public
relations department of the hospital. The intent is that the piece shows
the true spiritual meaning of Hospitality, a phrase of “Let Our Faith Be
Your Strength” could serve as a title or inspiration for the final work. A
balance between the spiritual nature of these subjects which convey living
water, peacefulness, etc. and the progressive, forward thinking and modern
day facility that is the new MTMC are desired.

$16,000 has been set for the project and is inclusive of all labor,

RFP - MTMC Public Waiting Areas Art

MTMC is a faith based healthcare system and realizes art is a form of
worship. The desire to include art conveys a sense of spirituality while
also serving as a vehicle with which to address the culture and diversity of
the populations of the community it serves. A mixture of mediums and styles
will be incorporated, all with the foundation of being geographically
located in Middle Tennessee. Further, the art program will stay in keeping
with the architectural styling of the new MTMC hospital.

There are several public waiting areas in need of regional, original art.
Budgets are up to $7500 for a waiting area and include a diversity of sizes,
mediums, and styles. For more specific information,

RFP - MTMC Grand Stair

The location of the art piece will be the Grand Stair of the new MTMC. The
piece is in a high traffic area, located near the primary elevators, coffee
kiosk, cafeteria, administration and on the second level near surgery
waiting.

The commissioned, site specific work will be a visual tool for viewers to
better understand the history and mission of MTMC. The stairs represent the
physical movement or progression from one level, ascending and descending.
The idea is that the art piece will reflect the similar movement in
healthcare; one that is constantly moving. Additionally it should embrace a
sense of the future and the setting of a new heritage for MTMC. References
to the heritage of the Daughters of Charity, Rutherford Hospital,
Catholicity, etc. are key components of the final piece. A potential titles
is “The Love of Christ Compels Us”. The facility will assist the artist
with historical background and information gathering.

The goal is not for an overtly literal piece but one that continues to tell
the story of MTMC. Therefore, a modern interpretation is acceptable.
Thought should be given that the piece will be viewed from multiple levels,
from below on the ground floor, to the bottom of the piece (landing of the
stair), to the second floor bridge area. The space is on a curved wall and
adjacent to the floating stair. Due to the curvature of the wall and the
size, a series of panels may be an ideal option. Use of the negative space
and storytelling in the mode of panels reminiscent of the Early Renaissance
are ideas discussed by the art committee.

The overall size of the space is 18’ wide by 16’ tall. A budget of $16,000
has been set for the project and is inclusive of labor, materials, and
installation. For more specific information,
