JACKSONVILLE, Florida -- Trustees of The Community Foundation in Jacksonville awarded grants to six area artists to support their professional and artistic advancement. The grants were made as part of the Foundation's Art Ventures initiative, which has supported the work of artists and small arts organizations for two decades.
For years female artists have battled to exhibit their artwork among male artists. Hard to believe as we near the end of 2009, that some of the most noteworthy female artists of the 20th and 21st Century have works hidden in the most grandiose inventories of museums all over the US. It is true!
The British Broadcasting Company (BBC) recently profiled one of my **new** favorite international artists by the name of Yinka Shonibare who is currently showing 21 pieces of his work at the National Museum of African Art, in addition to showing on over 2 floors of The Smithsonian.
Zany British photographer, Slinkachu, has published a cool book about his unique photographs of miniature people and things in real world circumstances, but some question his talent.
